Is Amare Stoudemire Delusional? Posted: 04 Jul 2010 08:55 PM PDT Amare Stoudemire has never been known as the sharpest tool in the shed, however he authored some quotes recently that make even less sense than usual. The free agent star power forward met with the New York Knicks over the weekend and could end up signing a $100 million deal in the Big Apple. The head-scratching comment was regarding who else Stoudemire could help bring to New York. Said Stoudemire: “I’ve talked to Carmelo Anthony that he needs to come out here. I’ve talked to Tony Parker. Both guys are ready to join me if I decide to come here. So we will see if we can work it out.” The problem with that comment is that neither Anthony nor Parker are free agents. In fact, Anthony is reportedly close to signing a three-year extension with the Denver Nuggets. Parker, the three-time All-Star for the San Antonio Spurs, still has another year left on his contract. Not only do Stoudemire’s words not make any sense, the NBA could say he is tampering, which could get the Knicks in hot water even before the ink dries on his contract. As for the Phoenix Suns, Stoudemire’s old team, they have moved on. To replace Stoudemire, the Suns have re-signed Channing Frye and signed free agent Hakim Warrick. After making the Western Conference Finals last season, the loss of Stoudemire will likely cause Phoenix to regress … even though he won’t be invited to Mensa anytime soon. Post from: EveryJoe |
Torii Hunter Explodes on Fourth of July Posted: 04 Jul 2010 08:54 PM PDT On Sunday, Torii Hunter was named to the American League All-Star team for the fourth time. He celebrated by helping his Los Angeles Angels destroy the Kansas City Royals. Thanks to Hunter’s three hits, two homers and seven RBIs, the Angels won by a final count of 11-0. Hunter hit a three run homer in the third inning, followed by a two run homer in the seventh and a two run single in the eighth. On the mound, the Angels got seven scoreless innings out of Joel Pineiro. With the All-Star game set to be played in his home stadium on July 13th, Hunter will be the only Angels representative. His place on the team is well deserved, as the 34-year-old outfielder is hitting .294 with 14 homers and 60 RBIs on the season. The Angels have a record of 46-38 — 3.5 games behind the Texas Rangers in the AL West. Post from: EveryJoe |
