Video: Rangers Fan Falls From Second Deck

Posted: 06 Jul 2010 08:57 PM PDT

Most Texas Rangers fans are happy right now rooting for their first place club. However, there is one Rangers fan who isn’t happy. A fan, described as a white male in his 30s or 40s, fell from the second deck while trying to catch a foul ball during Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Indians. The fan fell 30 feet and ended up landing on a group of fans, injuring four more.

The good news is that the Rangers fan who fell has been stabilized. He’s reportedly responsive to doctors and has movement in his extremities. The four other fans who got hurt suffered minor injuries.

The fall happened after Nelson Cruz hit a foul ball. The replay shows Cruz and the umpire behind the plate reacting in horror to the scene they see in the stands. You can see a video of the Rangers fan falling below.

After a more than 15 minute break, the game resumed and the Rangers resumed their demolition of the Indians. The Rangers won 12-1 and now lead the AL West by 4.5 games.

Holland Advances to World Cup Final

Posted: 06 Jul 2010 08:54 PM PDT

Holland has always had enough skill to win the World Cup. The soccer crazed country simply hasn’t been able to put it all together. Is this finally the year? After beating Uruguay by a final count of 3-2, Holland is now only one win a way from being World Cup champions.

To star the scoring, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, a 35-year-old veteran, scored an amazing goal with a rocket of a shot from good distance. Holland held that led for 23 minutes but then Diego Forlan scored on an impressive long goal of his own.

In a controversial goal, Wesley Sneijder scored in the 70th on a play that shows Holland may have been off-sides. To go up 3-1, Arjen Robben scored on a header.

Uruguay, like they always do, played until the last minute. Maxi Pereira scored in the 90th minute to give Uruguay some hope … but unfortunately for the last South American country standing, time ran out.

Holland advances to the World Cup finals and will play the winner of the match between Spain and Germany.

LeBron James Joins Twitter

Posted: 06 Jul 2010 08:25 PM PDT

LeBron James is set to tell the world this week his decision about where he’ll play next year. While many think he’ll be on the move to Chicago, others think he’s staying home in Cleveland. On Tuesday, he did make one move – he joined Twitter.

James says New Orleans point guard Chris Paul was a big part of convincing him to start Tweeting. However, it doesn’t seem like a coincidence that he wrote his first Tweet the day before NBA free agents can officially sign.

You can follow LeBron @KingJames. (The Twitter name was booked back in March 2009.)

Lindsay Lohan Sentenced to 90 Days in Jail

Posted: 06 Jul 2010 08:09 PM PDT

Despite her tearful pleas and excuses, on Tuesday the judge sentenced Lindsay Lohan to 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab for repeated probation violations. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Marsha N. Revel listened while Lindsay defended herself for failure to attend weekly alcohol education classes. However, Revel wasn’t having any of it. The court recounted a list of instances in which Lohan lied to the court and to law enforcement authorities.

Her probation stems from her two DUI arrests in 2007. Lindsay has failed to appear for mandatory court hearings, including once earlier this year when photos surfaced on the internet of her partying in Cannes when she was supposed to be in Beverly Hills in court.

Lohan was ordered to surrender to authorities July 20 and will be housed at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood. She will be in a wing that is separate from the rest of the jail population and is not expected to serve the whole 90 days in jail due to overcrowding.
