Kobe Bryant Already has an Excuse

Posted: 23 Jul 2010 08:55 PM PDT

Kobe Bryant isn’t the most humble person on the planet. Far from it. And when the Miami Heat landed Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh, many wondered how Kobe would act. Well, his first major move since then was undergoing knee surgery.

Is Kobe Bryant already making an excuse for the 2010-11 NBA season? Probably not … but this knee surgery sure did come out of nowhere. Last year, Kobe whined about his finger injury but there was no known plan to get knee surgery.

For fans of the Los Angeles Lakers, the good news is that Kobe is expected to be totally healthy by training camp. The bad news? Kobe may already be crafting a reason for why the Miami Heat win next season’s championship.

The Wade, LeBron and Bosh trio is already sending shock waves throughout the league. Teams are scrambling to figure out how to match-up with the Heat, while players like Chris Paul are asking for a trade so they have a shot in this new version of the NBA.

Chris Webber Called a Schmuck

Posted: 23 Jul 2010 08:54 PM PDT

An interesting battle is brewing between former NBA star Chris Webber and David Kahn, the current general manager of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Last week, Chris Webber grilled David Kahn in an interview about signing legendary draft bust Darko Milicic to a $20 million deal. Webber then fumed when Kahn tried to compare Milicic to Webber.

But that’s not the end of the story. Back in Minnesota, Kahn had this to say when asked about Webber on KSTP 1500 AM: “He’s kind of a schmuck, isn’t he? Methinks that he spent a lot of time on NBA TV with a former Timberwolves person and he seemed to come into the interview with an agenda. Tough questions are fine but I felt like he was a little defensive about some of the things.”

The “former Timberwolves person” Kahn is talking about is Kevin McHale, who is the person Kahn replaced as GM for the T’Wolves. Currently, McHale and Webber both work for NBA TV.

Kahn was recently in the news when he said that Michael Beasley has stopped smoking weed. Apparently, NBA commissioner David Stern has had enough and fined Kahn a total of $50,000. The Timberwolves organization was also fined $50,000.

For entertainment purposes, let’s hope Kahn keeps it up. Here’s the video of David Kahn and Chris Webber going at it:

Terrell Owens to the Cincinnati Bengals?

Posted: 23 Jul 2010 08:54 PM PDT

Terrell Owens may finally find a home for the 2010 NFL season. According to reports, T.O. has been working out with Carson Palmer in California. Supposedly, Palmer is so impressed with what he’s seen from Owens in workouts that he has told the Cincinnati Bengals that they need to sign the vivacious wide receiver.

There are a number of other reasons why Terrell Owens to the Bengals makes sense:

  • Owens is good friends with Chad Ochocinco.
  • Chad Ochocinco has campaigned to get Owens on the team.
  • The Bengals have a history of signing players with character flaws.
  • The other starting WR, Antonio Bryant, has a history of injuries.

We’ll see if Terrell Owens to the Cincinnati Bengals becomes reality. As it stands, it almost makes too much sense for it not to happen.

Owens’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently said that T.O. is very likely to sign with a team within the new few weeks. Besides Cincinnati, other possible destinations include the New England Patriots, Chicago Bears and New York Jets.

Video: Orioles Fan Jogs Around the Field

Posted: 23 Jul 2010 07:44 PM PDT

Granted, the Baltimore Orioles suck. They really do. But that doesn’t explain what happens in the video below where an Orioles fan jogs around the field before finally allowing the cops to grab him. In most parks, security is ready and willing to slam fans to the ground who dare interrupt the game. At Camden Yards, the effort by the security team is almost as poor as the effort from the baseball team.

Currently, the Orioles are 31-65 — which is good enough for dead last in all of baseball. Only the Pittsburgh Pirates (34-62) have less than 37 wins. The Orioles have gotten outscored by 165 runs and are just 18-31 in front of their home fans.

The best part of this video is probably when the fan jumps back into the stands … only to change course and jump right back onto the field. The players and umpires watch him lightly jog, never lending a hand. Finally, the kid gives up and a pair of officers take him away.

Here is the video of the Orioles fan who jogged around the field and became a YouTube sensation:
