Lindsay Lohan Booked Into Jail

Posted: 20 Jul 2010 04:24 PM PDT

In case you care, Lindsay Lohan began her 90-day sentence at Lynwood’s Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) today. Due to overcrowding, it’s expected that Lindsay serves only a fraction of her sentence – maybe 20 days or so. However, she might get a few extra days for her “FUCK U” nail.

CRDF is the same facility where Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie served time for their DUIs. Lindsay can have visitors and receive care packages. She’ll probably be allowed to keep taking Ambien and Adderall. All in all, it’s not a bad deal.  And she’ll probably get some steep offers for her first interview when she gets out.

Piniella made five trips to the World Series in his career, winning three. Though he may consider doing some consulting part-time, Piniella wants out of the daily grind to spend more time with his family.

“I’ve been away from home since 1962. That’s about 50 years,” Piniella said.

Piniella retires as the 14th-winningest manager in major league baseball history.

Raptors Try to Illegally Trade for Matt Barnes

Posted: 19 Jul 2010 08:56 PM PDT

It’s been a tough summer for the Toronto Raptors. First they lose Chris Bosh, their franchise player, to the Miami Heat. Then they overpaid for average players, namely $34 million for Amir Johnson. Then they had a trade unravel when the Charlotte Bobcats backed out at the last second. On Monday, the Raptors saw another trade unravel that would have brought Matt Barnes to Toronto.

But this time, it was their fault.

Somehow general manager Bryan Colangelo doesn’t know the rules regarding NBA trades and ended up agreeing to an illegal trade. The two-year, $9 million contract Colangelo promised Barnes simply wasn’t possible. Rumors indicate that the Raptors are calling it a “miscalculation”. Really? Miscalculations can happen in a fantasy league but shouldn’t happen in the NBA.

Barnes will now go back on the open market and look for a comparable deal — and one that isn’t illegal.

Movies That Never Get Old

Posted: 19 Jul 2010 08:56 PM PDT

Sometimes, aren’t you in the mood to have a laidback night in front of the TV watching a fun movie that never seems to get old? I think we can all relate; we don’t always need the latest HD movie exploding before our eyes and stimulating our brains. Here are some classic movies that never get old and are perfect for a relaxing evening.

The Christmas Story
No matter the time of year, The Christmas Story is a movie that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. The bunny suit? The tongue versus the frozen pole? The grand prize statue? All memorable moments.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles
This John Hughes classic features John Candy and Steve Martin at their best. You’ll know this movie by heart in no time!

Office Space
For those who work in a cubicle, Office Space provides tons of laughter. Even for the rest of us, this a movie we can watch over and over and over.

Robin Hood: Men in Tights
A Mel Brooks movie is always good for a chuckle. Yeah, this movie is corny but it has stood the test of time. Oh, and Dave Chappelle was in this movie long before he got famous.

Careers for Lazy People

Posted: 19 Jul 2010 08:55 PM PDT

Even if you are lazy, you need to find a way to put food on the table. Instead of fighting your laziness, work with it and find a job that is conducive for your lazy ways. Here are a few ideas for jobs that will allow you to kick back and not break a sweat. (Hopefully you aren’t so lazy that you don’t keep reading the article.)

Telemarketer
If you are good on the phone, can read step-by-step directions and don’t care if people get mad at you, a telemarketing job is calling. Once you get the hang of it, you can practically sleep through your work day.

Abstract Painter
Can you sell? If so, create abstract paintings and then sell your work. Get a following and see the money pour in.

Sell Your Body
No, I’m not talking about prostitution. You can sell your plasma, blood, sperm/eggs or even a kidney — and get paid!

Video Game Tester
This is the dream job for a lazy person. If you are lazy, chances are high that you play a lot of video games. Why not get paid for doing what you do naturally?

Check out 100 best jobs for lazy bones.

Titans Finally Pay Chris Johnson

Posted: 19 Jul 2010 08:55 PM PDT

Last season, Chris Johnson rushed for 2,006 yards, scored 16 touchdowns, totaled 503 receiving yards and caught 50 passes. Despite those numbers, the Tennessee Titans tried to get him to play the 2010 NFL for only $550,000. On Monday, the Titans finally wised up and gave Johnson a contract that will pay him $2.5 million next season.

While Johnson will still be underpaid, this new contract is definitely a step in the right direction. Now that he has his contract, he’ll focus his energies at accomplishing his goal of breaking the NFL rushing record, which is currently 2,105 yards by Eric Dickerson.

For the Titans, they had to do this. If Johnson had held out, their season would have been over before it started. With Johnson running the ball, the Titans have to be considered one of the top ten teams in the NFL.

Will Chris Johnson break the rushing record? Probably not. He took a pounding last season and will take a pounding early this season. His explosiveness is elite right now but is likely to become more average once those hits add up.
