Reign of Terror Over for Warriors Fans

Posted: 15 Jul 2010 08:55 PM PDT

The Golden State Warriors have some of the best fans in the NBA — even though the team has made the playoffs only once in the last 16 years. But now Warriors fans can look ahead to better days because Chris Cohan has finally sold the team. Cohan’s inept ownership has been credited for much of the poor play over the years.

The winning bid for the Warriors was $450 by Joe Lacob and Peter Guber. Lacob is a minority partner with the Boston Celtics, while Guber is the CEO of Mandalay Entertainment. That said, the names of the buyers aren’t important. What’s important is that the team is no longer owned by Chris Cohan. Not only was he a horrible owner, he reportedly owns more than $100 million to the IRS in addition to other debts.

The one time the Warriors made the playoffs in the last 16 years was surely memorable. As an eighth seed in 2007, the Warriors beat the Dallas Mavericks in one of the funnest series to watch in the history of the league. During that playoff run, the fans in Oakland came in droves to support their team. With a new ownership in place, Warriors fans should be prepared for more playoff runs in the near future.

Here’s a video of the Warriors upsetting the Mavs in 2007:

Drink Diet Soda to Keep Kidney Stones Away

Diet Sprite Zero

Kidney stones can be extremely painful, as well as cause nausea, vomiting and other problems. And kidney stones are more prevalent in summer months because of dehydration. The kidneys need enough fluid to function properly. If you have recurring problems with kidney stones, in addition to drinking plenty of water, you may consider adding diet soda to your daily diet.

Citrus-based diet sodas, such as Diet Sprite and Diet 7-Up, contain citrate – a known inhibitor of calcium oxalate kidney stones. Though non-diet versions also contain citrate – they are high in sugar and calories, making them generally unhealthy. Therefore, adding diet soda or even fresh lemonade to your regular diet may help if you are prone to getting kidney stones.

You should also avoid drinking iced tea (which is high in oxolates), high protein diets, and doses of over 1000 mg of vitamin C.

1800 Select Silver is the first-ever 100 proof silver tequila. This tequila is pure, 100% Blue Agave grown on family-owned ranches and bottled in Jalisco, Mexico. A smooth and supply entry leads to a round medium-bodied palate with sweet prune, roasted pepper, and delicate spice flavors. It finishes with a long sweet fruit and pepper fade.

Serve up a batch of the Passion Caipirinha featuring 1800 Select Silver at your next get-together.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. 1800 Select Silver
  • 1 oz. Passion fruit juice
  • 1 oz. Agave Nectar
  • 5 Muddled Limes
  • Drizzle of Raspberry liquor

Method:

Muddle limes and agave nectar in the bottom of a mixing glass. Add ice and all other ingredients besides the raspberry liquor. Shake and pour contents into a rocks glass and drizzle with the raspberry liquor.
