Miami Thrice Take Less Money

Posted: 09 Jul 2010 08:55 PM PDT

People, such as myself, are hating on LeBron James and crew right now. We just can’t fathom how egotistical and naive someone must be to go on live national television and rip the heart out of the city that has offered unwavering support since the onset of puberty. It’s just mind-boggling.

But once you take a deep breath and start looking at the big picture, maybe LeBron just really, really wants to win. Joining Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh is one example. Another hint? LeBron, Wade and Bosh all took less money in an effort to help the Heat bring in more talent. In fact, each player took about $15 million less. That, in any bank account, is a lot of cheese.

With that extra money, Miami will likely sign Mike Miller and re-sign Udonis Haslem. Other possibilities that make sense include Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Raja Bell, Jason Williams and even Derek Fisher.

LeBron didn’t handle the situation with much class but that could be the fault of those around him as much as it is his fault. If his focus is on winning, he might have simply gotten lost in the details on his way to South Beach.

Bulls After Two White Guys Who Can Shoot

Posted: 09 Jul 2010 08:50 PM PDT

The Chicago Bulls may have lost out on LeBron James but it hasn’t taken long for the franchise to figure out where to spend their money. On Friday, the Bulls threw money at a pair of white guys who can really shoot the ball: Kyle Korver and JJ Redick.

Korver signed a deal worth $15 million over the next three years. How good of a shooter is Korver? He just set an NBA record last season by nailing 53.6% of his three-pointers. In other words, dude can stroke.

As for Redick, he signed an offersheet with the Bulls. The Orlando Magic will have a week to match Chicago’s offer of $20 million over three seasons. Last year, Redick averaged 9.6 points per game on 43.9% shooting from the floor and 40.5% shooting from beyond the three-point arc.

Why are the Bulls going after a pair of sharpshooters? They are desperate, plain and simple. Last season, the Bulls were second to last in the NBA in three-pointers made and three-point percentage. If Chicago can land Korver and Redick, shooting won’t be a problem for the Bulls in the 2010-11 NBA season.

“Vampires Suck” Trailer

Posted: 09 Jul 2010 08:34 PM PDT

20th Century Fox has just released the trailer for their upcoming movie “Vampires Suck” which spoofs the “Twilight Saga” films, and takes lots of shots at other pop culture favorites including “Jersey Shore” and Lady Gaga. This flick is from Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer,  the guys who wrote and directed "Date Movie," "Epic Movie," and "Disaster Movie"

The parody stars Ken Jeong (“The Hangover”), Matt Lanter (“90210″) and Anneliese van der Pol (“That’s So Raven”). Newcomer Jenn Proske is also in the film, playing Becca – a high school chick who has to choose between two supernatural guys with the story culminating at prom.

One highlight — the movie also features a shovel fight between Team Edward and Team Jacob fans.  Though the film won’t be a big money maker, anything that makes fun of “Twilight” is probably worth a few laughs. The movie is set to hit theaters in August 18, 2010.
