Vuvuzela Ban? Stop Being Racist Posted: 14 Jun 2010 08:56 PM PDT The 2010 World Cup is off to a boring start. To compound the problem, players, coaches and fans around the world are constantly whining about something. The latest target of the whining is about three feet long and is made of plastic. Yes, I’m talking about the vuvuzela. The whining has gotten so loud that a vuvuzela ban has been talked about. Really, people? How weak has the world become that a little plastic horn can cause raging cases of PMS around the globe? Yes, the chorus of vuvuzelas at the World Cup makes it sound like a swarm of bees has invaded your speakers. However, the soccer fans of South Africa obviously enjoy the vuvuzelas so let them have their fun. A vuvuzela ban would be ridiculous. And, honestly, it would be racist. This is Africa’s first time to host a World Cup. Instead of trying to Americanize (or Europeanize) this World Cup, we should all be enjoying the different culture Africa has to offer. Vuvuzela is part of that culture. If you don’t like the vuvuzelas, too bad. Dry your tears and watch something else. Post from: EveryJoe |
Video: Vince Young Pummels Texas Hater Posted: 14 Jun 2010 08:55 PM PDT Don’t mess with Texas. Especially don’t mess with Texas around Vince Young. After a strip club manager flashed an insulting upside-down Longhorns sign, Vince Young went off and decked the man. The quarterback for the Tennessee Titans has was given a citation for misdemeanor assault. While violence is rarely the answer, it’s somewhat understandable in this situation. Throwing an upside-down Longhorns sign to a fiercely proud former Texas Longhorn such as Vince Young is just asking for trouble. Creiton Kinchen, the strip club manager, got an up close and personal view of Young’s furry. Now the Titans and their quarterback have to worry about whether NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will hand down a suspension. Typically, a suspension would be a no-brainer for Goodell … but he may give Young a break. He was clearly taunted and hasn’t been charged with a major crime. In fact, the citation he received has a maximum penalty of a $500 fine. For those who want to see the Vince Young fight video, YouTube has what you are looking for: Post from: EveryJoe |
Touchdown Jesus Stuck by Lightning Posted: 14 Jun 2010 08:50 PM PDT The official name of the 62-foot-tall Jesus sculpture at the Solid Rock Church north of Cincinnati is “King of Kings.” But most people are familiar with the enormous statue as “Touchdown Jesus.” Well Touchdown Jesus is no more. On Monday night, the sculpture was struck by lightning and consumed by flames. Built in 2004 to the tune of $500,000, the statue was constructed using styrofoam on a metal frame. It was then covered with a thin skin of fiber glass. I wonder if they will replace the spectacle with something equally as tacky.
