Posted: 17 Jun 2010 01:00 PM PDT Today is the 40th birthday of the Range Rover. On June 17, 1970, Range Rover / Range Rover Sport Product Manager, Frank Dauerer, was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. Ironically, the Range Rover was also born on June 17, 1970, though across the Atlantic at the Land Rover factory on Lode Lane. Is it a rare coincidence, or did Frank get hired because of his birthday? It’s kind of cool to see the evolution of the Range Rover. The first edition was so boxy… ![]() Image: Range Rover And today’s version is so sleek… ![]() Image: Range Rover A few years back, a leased a Range Rover for a few years – it was certainly a fun car to drive. The original Range Rover was the first vehicle that actually did well on the road and off. In a sense, it paved the road for the development of the SUV. You can visit interactivelandrover.com to learn more about the evolution of the Range Rover. ![]() The Classic, second generation Range Rover, 2003 Range Rover and 2010 Range Rover Post from: EveryJoe |

Game 7 Prediction - 2010 NBA Finals Posted: 17 Jun 2010 03:57 AM PDT The ultimate game in basketball will take place on Thursday night when the Los Angeles Lakers face the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals. In what promises to be a classic contest, there are a number of subplots at work. ![]() TSN.ca The hottest storyline is bad news for the Celtics: starting center Kendrick Perkins will miss the game due to a serious knee injury. The loss of Perkins means the Celtics will miss the player who is arguably the team’s toughest and best screen-setter. On the other side of series, the Lakers will have the services of their oft-injured starting center Andrew Bynum. For the Celtics to win, they need Rajon Rondo to regain his confidence and for the Big Three to be at the top of their games. Paul Pierce, specifically, will need to take over on the offensive end. Whoever replaces Perkins, be it Rasheed Wallace or Glenn “Big Baby” Davis, needs to play well. To win back-to-back championships, the Lakers will need more of what they got in Game 6. You can count on Kobe Bryant having a good game but he’ll again need help from Pau Gasol and the cast of role players. While I believe this will be a much better played contest than Game 6, I predict that the outcome will be the same. The Lakers play very well at home and the Celtics just won’t have the horses to keep up, especially now with Perkins out with the knee injury. An early congrats to Kobe Bryant for his fifth NBA championship. Post from: EveryJoe |
Old Man Jamie Moyer Vexes Yankees Posted: 17 Jun 2010 03:54 AM PDT Jamie Moyer is 47 years old. He doesn’t really have a fastball anymore and he spends most of his time throwing in the 60s. However, the starting pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies can still get the job done. At an age when most professional baseball players have been retired for more than a dozen years, Moyer was able to pitch the Phillies past the New York Yankees. In eight innings of work, Moyer struck out five while allowing only three hits and two runs. The Phillies won 6-3 and Moyer improved his record on the season to 7-6. ![]() MLB.com Yankees superstar Derek Jeter explained why Moyer is still a viable major league pitcher. Said Jeter: “He’s been doing it for a long time, a really long time. He never throws the ball over the plate. That goes to show you don’t have to throw hard. He knows what he’s doing — that’s why he’s been around so long.” Although this very well could be Moyer’s last season, he’s showing enough life that the Phillies can count on him to go out on the mound and give the team a good chance to win every fifth day. Explained Moyer: “I don’t think that I’m old. So I don’t believe it. Regardless of what people think or say, I still feel like I can go out and compete, and that’s my ultimate job.” Post from: EveryJoe |
