Werdum Upsets Fedor in First Round Posted: 26 Jun 2010 08:12 PM PDT In a stunning upset, Fabricio Werdum defeated Fedor Emelianenko at the Strikeforce/M-1 Global show on Saturday. In a fight that most people thought would be an easy win for Fedor, Werdum came away victorious just 69 seconds into the main event. Fedor knocked Werdum to the canvas just moments into the fight but followed the Brazilian to the ground and that was beginning of the end. Fedor fought off an armbar and then was taken over by the Brazilian jiujitsu master’s legs in a triangle choke. Fedor was in an inescapable position when Werdum manipulated his left arm away from his body and began to hyperextend it with an armbar, causing Fedor to tapout for the first time in his legendary MMA career.
