Refs Continue to Blow Calls at World Cup

Posted: 27 Jun 2010 08:23 PM PDT

The referees blew another call at the World Cup on Sunday. This time, it was during the match between England and Germany. WIth England trailing 2-1, a Frank Lampard shot from just outside the penalty area hit the crossbar and then bounced down. It had obviously cross the goal line. However, the referee Jorge Larrionda didn’t see it that way and didn’t award the goal.

After landing, the ball spun back to the German goal keeper Manuel Neuer. On the replay on television, it was an obvious goal, having crossed the line by several feet. It shouldn’t even have been a questionable call.

The goal would have tied the game at 2-2. However, who knows if it would have made a difference in the final outcome, as Germany came away with a 4-1 victory.

Following the England-Germany game, the Argentina-Mexico match kicked off and it wasn’t long before the controversy continued. Carlos Tevez scored on a short-range header midway through the first half to give Argentina a 1-0 lead. However when reviewing the replays, it showed Tevez was clearly offside.

Chris Brown Breaks Down During Jackson Tribute

Posted: 27 Jun 2010 08:12 PM PDT

At the BET Awards on Sunday, Chris Brown performed an emotional tribute to Michael Jackson. After keeping a low profile since beating up Rihanna, Brown was back in the spotlight. This time, it was almost like he embodied the King of Pop. He started out wearing a fedora, spangled glove and moonwalking to “Billie Jean.”

When he began singing “Man in the Mirror,” Brown broke down. His voice cracked as he was crying, and he couldn’t sing. At one point, he even crumpled onto the stage.

Other highlights of the show included T.I.’s first TV performance since being released from prison at the end of last year and El DeBarge turning back the clock performing hits such as “Rhythm of the Night.” Kanye West, Usher, Drake, B.o.B., Keyshia Cole, Eminem, Alicia Keys, and others also performed.

Trey Songz was named best male R&B artist. Jay-Z led nominees with five nominations, while Beyonce, Keys, Songz and Melanie Fiona had four nominations each.
