Cinco de Mayo Cocktails: Three Amigos Posted: 03 May 2010 08:56 PM PDT This authentic Mexican drink embodies the three colors of the Mexican flag – green, white and red. It also represents the traditional style of enjoying tequila – straight! However, it's not a shot; it's for sipping. Three Amigos con Herradura consists of a shot glass of fresh lime juice, a shot glass of premium Tequila Herradura and a shot glass of fresh and flavorful sangrita, all enjoyed separately. What better way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo than with a traditional and patriotic Mexican beverage. ![]() Image: Herradura Ingredients:

Posted: 03 May 2010 08:25 PM PDT May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Most of us know that the sun can cause skin cancer, but many of us don’t do anything about it. A recent survey by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) revealed that 94% of Americans know that prolonged exposure to the sun can cause skin damage and even skin cancer, yet only 1 in 5 people (20%) wear sunscreen on a daily basis. And 33% of Americans don't think it's necessary to wear sunscreen every day. ![]() Image: sxc.hu Though there’s no guarantee that you can avoid skin cancer altogether, you should do whatever you can to protect yourself.

Continental and United to Merge Posted: 02 May 2010 08:55 PM PDT Get ready to pay more for airline tickets. According to multiple reports, Continental Airlines and United Airlines are set to merge. United will be purchasing Continental for approximately $3.2 billion. The resulting airline will be the biggest airline in the world. For consumers, this is likely bad news. With less competition, airlines will be able to charge more for tickets. With two heavyweights like Continental and United joining forces, experts say that ticket prices would rise almost instantaneously. Since almost all airlines in the United States have struggled to stay afloat in recent years, these types of mergers are to be expected. Instead of competing with other airlines, these mega corporations see that it makes more business sense to try to purchase rival companies. After purchasing Continental Airlines, United Airlines is expected to have almost $30 billion in revenue per year. The company will continue to be based out of Chicago. Super Saver Wins, Calvin Borel Shines Posted: 02 May 2010 08:55 PM PDT If you are placing money on the Kentucky Derby, your best bet is to follow Calvin Borel. The jockey won the Kentucky Derby for the third time in four years. This time, Calvin Borel steered Super Saver to victory. Like he usually does, Borel kept Super Saver close to the rail on his race around the track. By the time he crossed the finish line, Super Saver had a comfortable lead and Borel was once again dreaming of a Triple Crown. Once Super Saver got the lead, Borel was confident in his horse. Said Borel: “I knew nothing was going to run him down.” Borel will ride Super Saver at the Preakness. If he wins that race, he’ll go for the Triple Crown at the Belmont Stakes. It has been 32 years since a horse won the Triple Crown. Seattle Slew was the last horse to accomplish the feat. Todd Pletcher, Super Saver’s trainer, believes that Borel is the right jockey for the job. “Calvin already said he’s going to win the Triple Crown so I guess we’d better go there,” said Pletcher when asked about the Preakness. Kobe Bryant to the Rescue in Game 1 vs Jazz Posted: 02 May 2010 08:55 PM PDT The Utah Jazz appeared to be on their way to a Game 1 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the Western Conference Playoffs. However, that was before Kobe Bryant had his say. The Lakers superstar shooting guard erupted late in the fourth quarter to guide L.A. to a 104-99 victory. With the Lakers down by four points with four minutes remaining, Kobe Bryant scored the next seven points of the game to give the Lakers a three-point lead. Los Angeles would never trail again. Kobe Bryant finished with 31 points on 12-for-19 shooting from the field. He hit all seven free throw attempts and added four assists and three rebounds. Pau Gasol chipped in 25 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and five blocks for the Lakers. The Jazz were led by Deron Williams, who finished with 24 points and eight assists. Carlos Boozer had 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Paul Millsap had 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench. The two teams will play again on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The Jazz will once again attempt to steal homecourt advantage. If they hope to do so, they better find a way to slow down Kobe Bryant in money time.
