Posted: 04 May 2010 08:38 PM PDT Having not played since April 26th after sweeping the Charlotte Bobcats, the Orlando Magic were worried about rust as they opened their second round series against the Atlanta Hawks. Those worries turned out to be totally unfounded. In a dominating performance, the Magic destroyed the Hawks by 43 points — 114-71. ![]() Image: Zuma Press Dwight Howard, who spent much of the first round in foul trouble, finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks and only three fouls. The Magic got 20 points from Vince Carter and 19 points from Jameer Nelson. The Hawks were outscored 60-21 in the middle two quarters. Only Josh Smith (14 points), Zaza Pachulia (12 points) and Joe Johnson (10 points) scored in double-digits for Atlanta. While the Magic were at home and are favored in this series, no one expected this type of destruction. The Hawks have a lot of work to do to make this a legit series. Post from: EveryJoe |
Microfracture Surgery for Darren Sharper Posted: 04 May 2010 08:31 PM PDT One of the biggest mysteries of the NFL offseason was how little interest Darren Sharper was getting in free agency. The safety was a large part of the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl run. Recently the mystery was solved when it was revealed that Sharper underwent microfracture surgery on his knee after the season. ![]() Image: Zuma Press Considering that Sharper is 34 years old and will have to work his way back from major surgery, it now makes sense that he didn’t get much attention. Only the Jacksonville Jaguars showed serious interest. When it was all said and done, Sharper signed a one-year deal to return to New Orleans. Last year, Sharper had 71 tackles, nine interceptions and three return touchdowns. He set an NFL record with 376 return yards after interceptions. Sharper is also sixth all-time in interceptions and second all-time in touchdown returns after interceptions. The Saints are happy to re-sign Sharper but they have to be worried about whether or not he can return to 100% for the 2010 season. Microfracture surgery is one of the most serious types of knee surgeries. Post from: EveryJoe Microfracture Surgery for Darren Sharper |
Posted: 04 May 2010 08:08 PM PDT If you watch the Phillies in Philadelphia, don’t run onto the baseball field. Not only is it a crime, you may end up like Steve Consalvi. The 17-year-old ran onto the field in Philadelphia and was promptly tasered by a police officer. You can watch the video of the Phillies fan getting tasered below. According to reports, Consalvi called his father to get permission to run onto the baseball field. The teenager said it was a once in a lifetime experience. Even though the father said it wasn’t a good idea, Consalvi obviously didn’t listen to the advice. Consalvi getting tasered has sparked a controversy. Some baseball fans are saying that using a taser is excessive force. Others are questioning whether or not police officers should get involved in such incidents. Around baseball, teams handle unruly fans in different ways. Some baseball teams tackle fans who go onto the field, while other teams let the fans run out of energy before the arrest.
