Will Favre Retire or Undergo Surgery?

Posted: 30 Apr 2010 08:07 PM PDT

Brett Favre’s retirement drama continues again this offseason. It seems like every year, it’s the talk of the summer. This time, it’s all about an injury. Favre has been informed that he will need surgery on his left ankle before playing again. Therefore, the 40-year-old is contemplating whether to have the surgery or retire.

“We (Favre and the orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews) have spoken,” Favre said in an e-mail, according to ESPN. “To play again, I would need the surgery, as I suspected. This decision would be easy if not for my teammates and the fans and the entire Vikings staff. One year truly felt like 10 — much like Green Bay for many years. That’s what I was missing in my heart I suppose, a sense of belonging.”

Minnesota coach Brad Childress says he has talked to the Favre many times about the ankle injury and considers it a minor.

Will Favre retire? Only time will tell – and I’m sure we’ll get up-to-date coverage every step of the way.
