ChatVille Launch

Posted: 20 May 2010 08:21 PM PDT

There’s a new Facebook app called ChatVille from the makers of the popular instant messaging desktop client Digsby. This app combines the basic elements of Chatroulette along with the badges, leveling up and other functions of casual games like FarmVille.

With this app, you can get paired up with a stranger (just like Chatroulette) but you can also invite friends to chat as well.

Additionally, you can post screen shots of your ChatVille adventures to Facebook albums.

Hopefully this app ends up to be like Chatroulette without the masturbation. Try it out at http://apps.facebook.com/chatville/.

Sports Leagues Which Failed Miserably

Posted: 20 May 2010 08:07 PM PDT

Sometimes it’s poor planning. Sometimes it’s not enough money. And sometimes, the sport just sucks. Dozens and dozens of pro sports leagues have tried to become viable — some just don’t make it. And though Slamball and the XFL were fun to watch at times, they definitely have a place in Ninth Inning Blog’’s Top 20 Professional Sports Leagues Which Failed Miserably (or Hilariously).

I wonder how long until the WNBA finds its way onto the list.

Floyd Landis Admits to Lying

Posted: 19 May 2010 08:55 PM PDT

Floyd Landis finally confirmed what many of us knew all along — he’s a cheater. The former Tour de France winner, who later had his title stripped due to testing positive for performance enhancing drugs, admitted to taking PEDs for the majority of his cycling career. After coming clean to his mother, he then came clean to ESPN.com.

Said Landis to ESPN.com: “I want to clear my conscience. I don’t want to be part of the problem any more.”

Landis admitted to taking a number of performance enhancing drugs including, testosterone, EPO, HGH, female hormones, insulin and he even had a number of blood transfusions. He claims to be in contact with cycling officials and anti-doping agencies — and is even said to be naming names.

The biggest splash Landis could make is claiming that Lance Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs. As of yet, there has been no confirmation that Landis has made such a claim.

It’ll be interesting to see how the cycling world reacts to Landis’ words. He’s no longer involved in the sport and there’s some thought that Landis could be “coming clean” simply as a ploy to keep his name in the headlines and eventually make money. While denying his usage of PEDs over the years, Landis has lost all his money and his marriage.

Are Landis’ claims legit? I think they are. That said, he is an admitted liar so nothing that comes out of his mouth can be trusted.

Lakers Win Shootout, Lead Suns 2-0

Posted: 19 May 2010 08:55 PM PDT

After sweeping the San Antonio Spurs, the Phoenix Suns and their fans had visions of an NBA championship. One problem: they had to beat the reigning NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. After a 124-112 Lakers win on Wednesday, the Lakers now lead the series 2-0 and the Suns are scrambling for answers.

The Lakers were led by their Big 2 of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. Bryant, who was double-teamed for much of the first half, finished with 21 points, 13 assists and five rebounds in 43 minutes. Doing most of his damage in the final period, Gasol totaled 29 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots. Lamar Odom chipped in 17 points and 11 rebounds off the bench, while Ron Artest had 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Offensively, the Suns are playing well. Jason Richardson had 27 points and Steve Nash had 11 points and 15 assists. The problem is the Suns defense. After scoring 128 points in the Game 1 win, the Lakers came right back with 124 points in Game 2. That type of defense simply won’t get it done for Phoenix.

The good news for the Suns is the series shifts to their homecourt for Game 3. If they can get their role players to shoot a bit better and have the Lakers cool off, this could quickly become a competitive series. As it stands, it appears the Lakers will roll to another NBA Finals appearance.
