Posted: 06 May 2010 01:00 PM PDT May is National Arthritis Awareness Month. If you are dealing with arthritis – you aren’t alone. Currently the disease affects about one-quarter of Americans and more than 67 million adults are expected to be afflicted by 2030. Though there are plenty of medications on the market for arthritis pain, many experts say that diet is a key to managing the pain. ![]() Image: sxc.hu Registered dietitian Dave Grotto recommends an “Anti-Arthritis Menu-Plan” in his new book, 101 Optimal Life Foods (Bantam, 2010). He suggests a number of inflammation-fighting foods including avocados, soy, and ginger. But one of his favorites is the tart cherry. Grotto includes cherries in his plan in three easy ways – as a cereal topper for breakfast, a star ingredient in his Cherry Zinger Smoothie and a simple, but powerful, glass of cherry juice. Cherries are particularly rich in anthocyanins – compounds that researchers have linked to reduced inflammation in the body. “Millions suffering from arthritis rely heavily on over-the-counter medications, when relief may be found in your local grocery store,” said Grotto. “What I love about tart cherries is that they’re backed by an impressive body of science and so easy to add to your diet.” What do you think? Have you been able to manage your arthritis pain by changing your diet? Leave a comment here and let us know. Post from: EveryJoe |
Suns Beat Spurs Again, Lead Series 2-0 Posted: 05 May 2010 08:55 PM PDT The Phoenix Suns have lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the playoffs four times since 2003. However, their losing streak against the Spurs appears to be at an end. People of Arizona can celebrate — as long as they remember their passports. ![]() Image: Zuma Press Already up 1-0 in the best of seven series, the Suns held on for a 110-102 victory in Game 2 to go up 2-0. Amare Stoudemire had 23 points, 11 rebounds and one blocked shot, while Steve Nash and Jason Richardson both had 19 points. The x-factor for the Suns was the play of Channing Frye. Off the bench, the bigman hit 5-of-6 three-pointers and forced Tim Duncan into uncomfortable situations. Speaking of Duncan, he did all he could to lead the Spurs. He had 29 points, ten rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots in 39 minutes of work. Tony Parker, who came off the bench yet again, had 20 points and seven assists in 36 minutes. The most the Spurs were stretched in their last four series against the Suns was six games. Now the Spurs are praying for at least a Game 7 in Phoenix. If they are going to make a miraculous comeback, it’ll start on Friday in San Antonio as the Spurs host the Suns for Game 3. Post from: EveryJoe Suns Beat Spurs Again, Lead Series 2-0 |
Posted: 05 May 2010 08:36 PM PDT Though she doesn’t get as much attention as her sister Paris, Nicky Hilton is definitely worth the look. She’s a cute girl with a more “down home” attitude than her high maintenance sibling. Though she might not always be as dolled up as Paris Hilton, Nicky is a very attractive chick. And she doesn’t have that “wonky” eye going on like Paris does. What do you think? All images: Fame Pictures Post from: EveryJoe |

She acts in the flick alongside her “real life” partner Colin Farrell. The movie premiered at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York City last week.
