Posted: 28 Feb 2010 06:52 PM PST You can breath a sigh of semi-relief and know that the Playstation Network is down for everyone…not just you. That probably doesn’t make you feel a whole lot better but at least you can sleep soundly tonight since that person you pissed off last night during a game of COD4 had nothing to do with your issues. Not these issues at least. Playstation LifeStyle was the first place I saw this issue reported and now Mashable has picked it up so you know it’s pissed A LOT of people off. The last tweet on Playstation’s official Twitter account addressed the issue with this:
That was two hours ago at the time of writing this. SO, all I can tell you is to cool your jets and know that Playstation knows about it. There. Feel better? My suggestion? Go read a book. This might take a while. Image/Sony Post from: EveryJoe |
How to Remove the Security Tool Virus Posted: 28 Feb 2010 05:58 PM PST I had a bit of a challenging task recently serving as alpha-geek for my extended family. My mother-in-law had gotten the Security Tool virus on her machine and it was doing a great job of keeping her from doing anything productive to remove the offending malware. The Security Tool malware virus presents itself as a very believable and helpful application. It uses quite a bit of social engineering to make the infected computer’s owner think they should be clicking on approval buttons and icons to let the software do more “help” on their computer. What makes this even more challenging is that Security Tool actively denies just about any action you take to try and remove the offending application. You’ve really got to do a couple of different steps to make sure everything is removed and doesn’t come back to infect you later. The best instructions I’ve found in quite some time to remove a virus, are the ones I found on the Bleeping Computer website (great site name by the way!). Step-by-step instructions, and even the suggestion of printing them out so you have them available through the different restarts that may be required. My only suggestion to you would be to read all the way through things first, download everything you need before you start so it’s available just like the printed instructions. Then get to it. If you’re infected with the Security Tool virus malware and looking for ways to remove it, visit Bleeping Computer and follow their instructions. It worked perfectly for me. Twitter Analyzer Expands Your Twitter Info Posted: 28 Feb 2010 04:53 PM PST If you haven’t figured it out just yet, there’s quite a bit of information that can be gained by paying attention to your activity using the network’s micro-blogging functionality. Finding out more information about your activity on Twitter can help you adjust your activity if necessary, or just identify other areas to work on improving your Twitter citizenship. Twitter Analyzer provides details about your activity on Twitter. Including who you follow, who re-tweets your messages, what you’re talking about and just how quickly is your Twitter network growing since you’ve been involved? The Twitter Analyzer tool provides a quick resource to find all of this information and once you find it, you can share it with your friends and the world just as easily as you might expect. One of the interesting bits of information that I haven’t seen available from other similar applications is an identification of what tool you were using to use twitter. The web? another application like BrightKite or Foursquare or do most of my tweets come from my mobile phone? Get a clue to your Twitter experiences and visit Twitter Analyzer to grab those details quickly and easily. Post from: EveryJoe Twitter Analyzer Expands Your Twitter Info |
Lewis Hamilton Best Time on Day Four Posted: 28 Feb 2010 04:44 PM PST The fourth day of testing on the track of Barcelona was a success for all who attended, but McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton had the fastest lap time of the day with a 1:20:472 second lap. Hamilton finally looked like he was able to get his McLaren race car up to speed and his smile was evident after the session, so he must have had a better day from his point of view. Hamilton finished about two-tenths of a second ahead of his nearest competitor on the day, Red Bull’s Mark Webber, who looked pretty fast and controlled out on the track. Webber worked on fine tuning the set up of the car all morning and actually went through a few mock qualifying laps to see how the car was reacting to the forces on the track. He was able to get in a total of about 70 laps, so the team and engineers will have lots of data to crunch before the next test session. Webber and his Red Bull team mate Sebastian Vettel was out on the track in the morning for about 75 laps of pretty good work. He was able to finish with the fifth best lap time of the day, while getting lots of work done on different aspects of the car set up. This along with the data from the laps he ran should give the engineers lots of data to help them figure out how to get the car running its best for the next test session. The third fastest lap time of the session belonged to Felipe Massa in his Ferrari, he was on the track for a total of about 110 laps in the F10 and he looked pretty nimble on the track. The Ferrari race car still needs lots of work but things are starting to look a lot better as the car begins to round into form. The 2010 season is probably going to be a difficult one for Ferrari, as it will for all of the four new teams, and the new team that does the best this year is going to have a definite leg up on the other three teams. Force India’s Adrian Sutil had the fourth best lap time of the day, while working on the aerodynamics of the car, the brake system, running through qualifying simulations and other things that kept him busy and smiling all day. The car looks pretty fast and competitive out on the track and this is great news for Force India who will be looking to do even better than the pretty good showing they had in 2009. They need to keep improving the car and final standings at the end of the year to be considered a success in 2010 and this is going to be difficult. “Image: Zuma Press” Post from: EveryJoe Lewis Hamilton Best Time on Day Four |
Kevin Harvick is Ready to Race! Posted: 28 Feb 2010 04:08 PM PST The third race of the 2010 Sprint Cup Series has been run and Jimmy Johnson looks to be fast and strong once again, but things are still early and reading a lot into the results so far is going to be a mistake you’ll regret later on. The Sprint Cup Series is just getting started and some of the teams will be slower starters than others. Jimmy Johnson is known for being a strong starter and even stronger finisher, so things are looking good for him and his chances of a fifth consecutive Sprint Cup Series Championship. Johnson was back in form quickly at the start of the first race and after the third he’s looking even stronger. His competition has been a little slower to get up to speed, but expect the other racers to get him in their sights soon and start to reel him in. Kevin Harvick has had a slow start to the 2010 Sprint Cup Season and on Friday his start became a little more hectic and chaotic as he ran into the wall during Friday’s practice session and was just able to qualify in 34th place. On Saturday, Harvick’s weekend continued on its trend as he only managed to finish 25th out of 42 cars that were out on the track for two sessions. His difficulties are just part of the trade of racing in NASCAR, so don’t read to much into them just yet. Kevin will get things turned around soon and the team will get the car running fast and nimble before you know it Kevin will once again be near the top of the Sprint Cup Series standings and challenging for the lead. Things change quickly week to week on the Sprint Cup Series tour and you have to keep informed on the events in order to have a good understanding of what’s going on. A racer can be on a roll one week and sitting in the pit lamenting a crash that has them sitting and wondering what could have been. This of course is the exciting part of NASCAR and the Sprint Cup Series that keeps us all coming back for more excitement and entertainment, week after week. Harvick will keep plugging away though, he’s not a quitter or one to give up, so he’ll be fighting to the last race and corner and this is why we love him so. Harvick will be out on the track again next week, no matter the result in his last race and he’ll be giving it everything he has to win. This is the goal of every racer in NASCAR, to win as many races as possible, and win the championship at the end of the season. “Image: Zuma Press” Post from: EveryJoe Kevin Harvick is Ready to Race! |
Posted: 28 Feb 2010 10:56 AM PST A new music video from Soulja Boy has been released. The video is for the song called "Pretty Boy Swagg." It looks like the track is off of his upcoming album, "The DeAndre Way." The album title refers to his real name which is DeAndre Cortez Way. Honestly, listening to the song and looking at the video, it just seems like a big joke. Is he being serious?! Maybe, it's just me, but not only is the song stupid, but the video is so low quality. I'm sure he's earned enough money off of "Crank That" to come out with something better. Take a look at Soulja Boy's "Pretty Boy Swag" music video below:

Posted: 28 Feb 2010 08:00 AM PST For those of you with that secret love of far away lands, creatures, and special powers, you may be drawn to Last Rebellion, where you'll play in the world of Junovald. The place is ruled by two very different gods by the names of Formival and Meitilia. As you probably guessed, one is good (Formival) and the other is evil (Meitilia). Formival's focus is on the creation of life, while Meitilia seeks to destroy it. Meitilia has given power to two types of people: Blades and Sealers. Blades have the ability to destruct one physically and Sealers have the power to destroy their soul. On a less depressing note, Formival can revive any dead being. Also, souls of living things, may escape their body and may become taken over by the Formival's Soul. The souls then turn into monsters, called Belzeds, which are virtually indestructible unless they are in the face of both the Blade and Sealer. Characters Nine Asfel and Aisha Romandine must defeat the Belzeds, which have taken over the kingdom. Image: Amazon.com Post from: EveryJoe |
Tomlinson Won’t Be a Packer, But He Should Posted: 28 Feb 2010 04:34 AM PST The Chargers let LaDainian Tomlinson go earlier this week, and since then rumors have swirled on where he would end up. I’d like the Packers to at least take a look at him, but I doubt that will happen. Ted Thompson is too cheap to play for someone like Tomlinson, even though he’d finally seal the uncertainty in the running back position. More than hat, at 30 years old Tomlinson is much older than the guys Thompson likes to have on the team. He’s been pruning the team for years and getting rid of the experienced players. I don’t always agree that when a player gets older they lose their effectiveness. Just as Charles Woodson about that. Still, Tomlinson said he would like to play for another team and that he wants to go to the Super Bowl. The Packers could do that with him. Does the Shake Weight Really Work? Posted: 28 Feb 2010 12:47 AM PST It’s not often something in the fitness world makes news, but the unorthodox Shake Weight has women chirping about the possibility of toned triceps and laughing about the rest. The marketers behind the Shake Weight must be delirious with how much press their suggestive “exercise” has received. Check out Ellen talking about the ShakeWeight: So it’s received lots of press and everybody loves to laugh about it, but does the Shake Weight actually work? Numerous web reviews from actual owners say yes, you can feel that your triceps have been given a workout afterwords. I don’t own a ShakeWeight, but I’ll agree the motion that shows in the commercials is going to hit your triceps and shoulders. So yes, technically it works if you continually plug away at it as if you would a regular workout, but therein lies the marketing genius. First, the shake weight isn’t going to burn anything above a scintilla of fat off your body. Thus, if you have flabby arms you might be able to get a little more muscle, but you still need to burn fat. Second, there’s a subliminal message that goes along with the Shake Weight that it will somehow help you lose weight or get in shape, when it will do nothing of the kind. Still, people will buy the ShakeWeight under these pretenses and then throw it in the back of the closet once a new fad hits the market. In the end, all the ShakeWeight does is basically give you 1 tricep exercise for $19.95 (postage and handling). If you really want to do it, you could just buy a 2.5 lb dumbell and imitate the commercials. Or you could just go to the gym and do some tris and shoulders. Think of the Shake Weight as 1 tiny car accessory in an auto parts store. Can it help you with an aspect of your car? Sure, but it matters less than 1% in the whole scheme of things. The Shake Weight is akin to replacement seat covers in comparison to regular cardio exercise being an engine. Post from: EveryJoe Does the Shake Weight Really Work? |
