Posted: 06 Feb 2010 06:49 PM PST Sometimes in life you only get so many choices and if you don’t take advantage of the opportunity before you to achieve your dream the bubble bursts before your eyes and you never get another chance to fulfill your dreams. Taking advantage of the opportunities that come your way can be of the utmost importance to fulfilling a destiny and sometimes that opportunity becomes available due to an unfortunate situation. Kamui Kobayashi’s opportunity to achieve his dream of Formula One glory appeared on the horizon of his life in 2009, after an unfortunate accident to Timo Glock. Kobayashi would go on to race two Formula One races for Toyota in 2009, the last two races as it happens and he showed in these two races that he’s more than capable of competing with the big boys on the track and didn’t look out of place at all when next to the likes of Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button. In his first race in Brazil, Kamui looked confident and competent in his debut race, but finished at the back of the pack, which isn’t a surprize. In his second race in Abu Dhabi, Kobayashi did even better by grabbing three points for the team. This finish in the last race of the season is probably the reason he almost had a fulltime ride with Toyota for the 2010 season. Unfortunately, Toyota would make a sudden disappearance from Formula One and his fulltime ride with Toyota would dissipate into air, but hopes would reappear in the form of a deal with BMW Sauber. Kobayashi was very professional in his debut appearances and according to sources shows sign of being an outstanding professional driver. He obviously has a lot to learn, but he has a good teacher and team mate in Pedro de la Rossa and they should be able to learn from each other as they go forward. These two gentlemen and the rest of the team need to be tight and on the same wavelength during the season, if they want to do well. It will be a difficult year, no matter how it turns out and the work ahead of them is going to be monumental. The car and team as kind of in chaos at the moment, but then all of the teams are kind of in a flux and things aren’t quite as chaotic as they look and feel when your down in the garage. At the moment, the car is in development and will be for quite awhile, but hopefully they can get the car running fast and quick. “Image: Zuma Press” Post from: EveryJoe |

The Ram comes with their patented Two-Mode Hybrid system. The two mode hybrid just means that you can choose to use the electric motor to assist the gas engine or use the electric motor on it’s own (power allowing). So far the hybrid system has worked well for Chevy with their Silverado lineup. So there is now Dodge has decided to get in on this future market. The Dodge Ram Hybrid will still have their legendary HEMI engine so you will still be able to use it to tow heavy loads. If you are looking for fuel efficiency and don’t need a pickup I would suggest other hybrid models. The hybrid helps the Ram get better milage, though only in relation to other pickups. Other hybrid SUV’s get better mileage with similar towing capabilities. The best thing to do is asses your needs and be honest about your transportation use/need. It’s Saints All the Way, Baby! Posted: 06 Feb 2010 10:54 AM PST I’ve waited a very long time to make my Super Bowl prediction. I needed a little time to let the hoopla of the regular season die down so I could really think about the dominant team. The obvious choice is the Colts. But the more I’ve chewed this around, the more I lean toward the Saints. Here’s why. Saints Emotions The Saints have had the emotional edge this entire season. People want them to win. They want the city of New Orleans, who has received such a bad deal the last few years, so have something to smile about. They want a team who has never been to the Super Bowl to go and take home the trophy. Saints Errors A lot was said about Brett Favre’s interception throw during the Vikings/Saints playoff game, but let’s not kid ourselves. The Saints played like a bunch of high schoolers who couldn’t keep their emotions in check. They had a bucket full of penalties, and yet still didn’t get called for the most important one (of hitting Favre below the knees.) But they got it out of their system. They will reign it in and use that emotion to play instead of implode. Strategy There’s no question that the Colts are the dominant team here. But that doesn’t always mean anything. Remember the Patriots and their “perfect season” – right up until they lost the Super Bowl to the Giants? There was no way the Pats should have lost that game. But they did. Besides that, aren’t we giving just a little too much credit to Peyton Manning? Listen, he’s the “anti-Favre” right now. He’s likable. He’s a great player. It’s so much easier for people to agree on him. But like Favre, he’s just another player. He’s not a football mastermind. All the Saints have to do is get in his face all day and they will shake him up like they did Favre. If they do this, they will win. Exercises You Can Do While Watching TV Posted: 06 Feb 2010 02:17 AM PST TV time doesn’t have to mean your relaxing or slacking off from your workout. You can actually use your favorite shows as a catalyst for getting into shape with the right exercises and enough time. For every 30 minute show, you can expect about 6-8 minutes of commercials. Outside of commercial time, you can also try some exercises that will not significantly detract from your view. During commercials, you’re able to do anything without missing the show. Here are 5 exercises to rotate in during commercials:
When you’re watching the show, try these 5 with limited distractions:
You can’t expect TV fitness to get you in shape, but it is certainly better than nothing. The best use of TV exercises will be as a supplement to your regular workout or a placeholder for when those unmissable shows come on. Post from: EveryJoe Exercises You Can Do While Watching TV |
How Young is Too Young for Recruiting? Posted: 05 Feb 2010 09:30 PM PST The story all over the news today is how new USC coach Lane Kiffin has offered a scholarship for 13-year-old quarterback from Red Lion Christian Academy. This comes a year after he recruited 14-year-old Evan Berry to play for Tennessee. These kids are in middle school. To put that into even more perspective for you…they’ve never been to prom, they can’t yet get their licenses, and they very well may still watch cartoons on Saturday morning. That’s not saying anything bad about these kids at all…because that’s all natural. 13-year-old David Sills accepted the offer, so he’s essentially verbally committed to USC. Officially, he can’t sign a letter of intent until he’s a junior. So, is 13 too young? Well, on one hand, it could backfire on Kiffin. If Sills is injured, doesn’t have a growth spurt, performs poorly in high school, etc., well…that’s just too bad. He offered the scholarship; he’ll need to honor it. On the other hand, although Sills isn’t obligated to honor his verbal commitment, he’s going to grow up a USC fan now, and it will be hard for another school to pull him away once he’s actually looking at college. So in that sense, this could be a very smart move. Personally, I don’t think it’s a good idea to recruit such young players. I’m in favor of an NCAA rule that says recruiters can’t contact players until they have played at least one full season of their sport in high school or are at least high school juniors, which even comes first. When you were 13, did you want lot of extra pressure put on your sports talent? Did you understand what you want in a college? Did you make good choices? Thirteen is too young. It just is. And we need rules to prevent it. Post from: EveryJoe How Young is Too Young for Recruiting? |
Posted: 05 Feb 2010 09:07 PM PST The Wii Football is the latest accessory being released for the console in an effort to enhance realistic playing styles. Some of these are really hit and miss so I'm not sure if this is good or not. If you've tried it, let me know. I am curious about whether it makes playing more cumbersome. I'd be so afraid of it flying out of my hand and hitting my TV. The idea is to allow players to mimic the motions associated with playing real football. It's the first of its kind and fully encases the Wii Remote but seems to have a pop out hand strap to help keep it secure on your hand. The buttons on the Wii remote are mirrored on the outside of the casing, allowing players to have full access to them without interrupting play. The Wii Football is compatible with the MotionPlus and the following games:
