Please Rob Me – The Sky Is Falling Posted: 23 Feb 2010 07:38 PM PST If you’re active at all on the location based status update sites like BrightKite or Foursquare, then you’ve more than likely heard about the Please Rob Me website. A good friend let me know about the site and he’s stopped using both sites cold turkey. The gist of the site is that the folks behind the Please Rob Me site take all the updates from Foursquare and post them together in one place. The idea is that along with telling all our friends where we’re at, we’re also broadcasting to the worldwide public where we’re not at that moment… at home.
I understand the obvious risks, but I’m wondering if we’re maybe blowing this a bit out of proportion? Has there ever been a robbery or home invasion reported that was spurred on because someone checked-in somewhere else at that moment? Perhaps I should also let people know my wife just might be a stay-at-home-mom, that doesn’t update her geo-location status and knows how to operate a shotgun. Would that help? Honestly, I think this could be fixed fairly easily. Allow people to only share updates with their friends that they approve and confirm. What do you think? Should we all stop using these services? Or just stop worrying about every potential thing that might go wrong in our lives. Post from: EveryJoe Please Rob Me – The Sky Is Falling |
Second Test Session on Sepang This Week Posted: 23 Feb 2010 05:46 PM PST The fastest sport on two wheels is preparing to start on April 11th in Qatar and the boys were down on Sepang International Circuit this week taking their prototype bikes through a few paces of the circuit to try to get them in shape for the start of the 2010 season. It’s going to be one exciting start to the season and 2010 should be a year to remember in the history books of MotoGP. Valentino Rossi is setting a new standard for sportbike champions everytime he goes across the line first and if he keeps winning at this pace, he’s still young enough to race for quite a few years yet, we could be talking about a number of MotoGP Premier Class World Championships that could be out of reach for the racers on his rear tire. Valentino hasn’t made any noise about quitting riding sportbikes anytime soon, so it could be a tough time in MotoGP Premier Class history to win a world championship for others. Valentino Rossi looked pretty good at the first test session at Sepang International Circuit three weeks ago and set the best lap time and only one under two minutes. He should be even futher along in his development of the bike at the second test and unless the other riders have made some improvements, he could lead the times at the second this week. Valentino’s teammate and competitor Jorge Lorenzo won’t be at the second test session at Sepang this week, he’s still nursing a hand injury sustained in a training accident. Casey Stoner will be at the track this week, along with his teammate Nicky Hayden, the duo will be working on their Desmosedici GP10 prototype bikes, and trying to get comfortable with the feel of their rides. Things appear to be going pretty slow over at Ducati Marlboro, so far this season, but the new engine appears to be rounding into racing shape. Hopefully, they’ll be able to get everything figured out with the bikes and we’ll soon get to witness the true power and performance of Ducati’s new engine design. Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso will be out on the track on the RC212V for Repsol Honda, this week the pair will be trying to get comfortable with their bikes as they take them around the track a few times to thrill the fans. Repsol Honda has also had the head down working diligently and haven’t said to much this season, so far, they appear to be getting the bikes ready to race at a slow rate and if they don’t pick up the pace could be behind a little when the flag drops on the first race. “Image: Zuma Press” Post from: EveryJoe Second Test Session on Sepang This Week |
Bruce Willis Shooting ‘Die Hard 5’ in 2011 Posted: 23 Feb 2010 05:36 PM PST Though the years are passing by and action star Bruce Willis is getting older, he's totally up for more of the Die Hard films. Willis spoke to MTV News recently an revealed that there is a possibility of a fifth installment being filmed. He also says that if he goes through with it, he would get Len Wiseman to direct it. Wiseman directed the fourth Die Hard film, Live Free or Die Hard, which Bruce Willis starred in alongside Justin Long. The last film brought in some great box office sales worth $383.5 million, indicating that people still love Jon McClane. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Bruce Willis. His latest film to hit theatres is Cop Out, where he stars alongside Tracy Morgan. The film will be released on February 26th. Do you think they should make another Die Hard film? The last one was so good, I would have a hard time staying away! Image: Zuma Press Post from: EveryJoe Bruce Willis Shooting ‘Die Hard 5’ in 2011 |
Virgin Racing Signs Andy Soucek Posted: 23 Feb 2010 05:21 PM PST Formula One will be heading back to the track for real soon and the teams have been filling out their teams of late in preparation for the 2010 season. This week Virgin Racing has been busy finding a driver to act as a reserve and test driver for their 2010 Formula One program. Just who has Virgin Racing decided is the best choice for the coveted position that hundreds of drivers would love to a chance to fill. Andy Soucek has joined Virgin Racing this week as their latest draftee and reserve/test driver. Andy Soucek has the talent and success in Formula Two that should give him a good leg up in his promotion to big time racing for 2010. He won the Formula Two Championship in 2009 and is ready for the jump to Formula One. Andy Soucek hails from Spain and this move is definitely what he has been dreaming about since he started racing. He’s finally getting his chance to show what he can do and put out the work that will allow him to succeed in the fastest sport on four wheels. He’ll be under the wings of veteran Formula One racers Timo Glock and Lucas de Grassi, so he the role models he needs to make it to the top. The question is does he have the mix of driving talent, steel nerves and emotional control that is necessary to succeed in Formula One? He needs to take his time and soak up as much information as he can from his work with Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi and then time will tell. Soucek got a taste of Formula One last year with Williams and their young driver test, so he has an idea of the power he’ll have to harness if he’s to succeed. He did compete in GP2 for two seasons, before making the jump to F2, and also won the Spanish Formula Three series in 2005. This combined with his great year in Formula Two last year could mean he’ll be good with the jump to Formula One and he could be a young driver to keep your eye on. His development could have serious consequences for the history of Formula One in a few years, you never know, and we need to keep our minds open to the possibilities. The future is ready for Andy Soucek to grab hold of his future and drive himself into Formula One history, the question as always in sports is how bad does he want it? “Image: Zuma Press” Post from: EveryJoe Virgin Racing Signs Andy Soucek |
Jennifer Lopez Splits From Record Label Posted: 23 Feb 2010 04:43 PM PST Unfortunately it is being reported that Jennifer Lopez is parting ways with her record label, Sony Music Epic. Not to worry though, apparently the split was a mutual decision. The news was confirmed yesterday afternoon by the label's CEO, Rob Stringer. He says, "Jennifer had a wonderful relationship with the Sony Music group, and they have shared many successes together, but the time was right to make a change that best serves the direction her career as an actress and recording artist. She is grateful and appreciative to everyone Sony for all that they accomplished together." Despite the release of her singles, "Fresh Out the Oven" and "Louboutins" (even performing it at the AMAs) JLo the album, LOVE, has been pushed back indefinitely. it was originally set to be released in April. I guess it was just time for a change! Image: Zuma Press Post from: EveryJoe Jennifer Lopez Splits From Record Label |
Tony Kornheiser Suspended Over Crass Remark Posted: 23 Feb 2010 04:28 PM PST I have to admit, I was relieved that Tony Kornheiser was not on Monday Night Football this year. His insight was mostly personal opinion, and much of it centered around being constantly amazed at the accomplishments Brett Favre. As a Packer fan who wanted to simply move on from “the Favre era,” hearing Aaron Rodgers constantly compared to Favre every play was a bit much. It’s no secret, he’s not my favorite sportscaster. Still, I feel a bit bad for him since he was suspended from his radio show, Pardon the Interruption. Kornheiser did something people at home tend to do, which is get a little catty with what a fellow sportscaster had on. In this case, his remarks were directed to Hannah Storm, and there were way beyond catty to downright rude. According to the Huffington Post, he said:
Did you cringe like I did? There’s more, if you can believe it, so be sure to read the rest over at the HuffPost. I happen to like Hannah Storm. I think she is sincerely one of the best sportscasters out there. I’ve enjoyed her take on things for years. I also think that if Hannah was a guy, her choice of outfits wouldn’t even come into question. (For example, I can think of one male sportscaster right now who always wears a tie, shirt, and coat that doesn’t match. Not at all. Is anyone going on about it? No way. They don’t even pay attention.) Image: Zuma Press Post from: EveryJoe Tony Kornheiser Suspended Over Crass Remark |
Honda, Subaru and Toyota Top 2010 List Posted: 23 Feb 2010 12:56 PM PST Consumer Reports has released their Best of 2010 list for vehicles and Asian automakers, Honda, Subaru and Toyota took the top three spots. In terms of US manufacturers, there was very little improvement with Ford moving up by just one point and General Motors and Chrysler rounding out the bottom.
That’s pretty amazing. Even the problem-riddled Prius retained it’s spot as the Best Green Car. Here are the winners in the model categories:
Do you still count Toyota among the best automakers, in spite of the recall? Post from: EveryJoe Honda, Subaru and Toyota Top 2010 List |
Posted: 23 Feb 2010 08:03 AM PST It doesn’t really matter if Shaquille O’Neal has a tattoo of an “S” on his arm or a diamond encrusted Superman ring. His Superman days are over. The red cape has been passed down from one big man to another. All Shaq has to do it let it go. ![]() Shaq has Superman bling. After all, you can’t be a superhero forever. Whether Shaq wants to admit it or not, Howard brings out the best in him. They bring out the best in each other. When the Orlando Magic played the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, both Shaq and Howard put on an amazing display of what it takes to be a “big man” in the NBA. The Magic won 101-95, and Howard netted 22 points. But Shaq also worked hard in the middle, scoring 20 points himself. It was a hard fought battle between two NBA superheros, one whose career is just beginning and the other whose career is coming to a close. “I really consider him a big man: myself, him and Yao,” Shaq said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “I’m sure he doesn’t mind the physicality. I [darn] sure don’t mind it.” I don’t think either of them mind it all. The physicality gives them the opportunity to show off their inhuman strength and superpowers. In the minds of NBA fans, both Howard and Shaq are superhuman. End of discussion. (According to ESPN’s latest commercial, Dwight Howard is the real Superman): Image: Zuma Press Post from: EveryJoe |
Posted: 23 Feb 2010 12:16 AM PST Utilizing team building games as a way to promote unity throughout a company is a very powerful tool.
