Bandera Shots

Posted: 16 Jan 2010 05:55 PM PST

Instead of shots of plain tequila, serve up the Bandera instead. You will need three shot glasses for each person as this shot trio includes Jose Cuervo Tradicional, Sangrita and lime juice.

Bandera

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. Jose Cuervo Tradicional
  • 1 oz. Viuda de Sanchez Sangrita
  • 1 oz. lime juice

Directions

Serve each in a separate shotglass. Enjoy sipping in order – Tequila, Sangrita, Lime. Note: See recipe for Sangrita below.

Sangrita

Ingredients

  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • Bloody Mary mix
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 3 teaspoons grenadine
  • Dash of Cholula or other hot sauce
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fresh ground pepper

Directions

You take your tequila seriously, so why not savor it the traditional way? For an authentic Mexican experience, order your frozen shot of tequila with something extra – a shot of sangrita. It's a spicy, tomato-citrus blend that’s sipped alternately with premium tequila to enhance the experience and highlight the tequila’s distinctive flavor. Try our version and add some caliente to your bar menu. Mix ingredients and serve chilled next to a shot of Tradicional.

Force India Looking to Improve in 2010

Posted: 16 Jan 2010 03:27 PM PST

Formula One is going to be a slightly different animal in 2010 with all the changes to the teams and rules used to run the races. The four new teams will add spice to the races that will improve the entertainment level of the races and make following the year a lot more interesting.

Force India is getting ready to race

2010 will also be interesting because of Michael Schumacher being thrown into the mix, along with Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and racers like Sebastian Vettel, who would love to come out on top and surprise at the end of the year.

Teams like Force India had a great year, but they’ll probably find it difficult to keep the pace up that they managed to achieve last year. Force India, like the rest of the teams, has to deal with falling budgets and reductions in workers, which means the rest of the crew has more to do both before and after the race. Adrian Sutil will be a lot more confident behind the wheel of the Force India race car and will be looking to improve on the results he achieved in 2009.

Adrian Sutil was recently in India on a tour to increase the fan base of the team in India of a team that has shown a steady increase in fan base in India. The fans in India have really embraced Adrian and Force India and they have been very vocal in their support.

Force India has been one of the smaller teams and budgets on the Formula One grid over the last few years, but they have had pretty good results and if they can continue to improve it will be a very interesting year.
Force India will certainly have to deal with a budget that continues to shrink as the year goes forward, as will all of the teams, both large and small. All of the teams will have to learn how to deal with competing in Formula One using less staff and money in the future and the one that comes out on top could be the team that deals with the financial realities better than the others.

Do You Use Plastic for the Little Things?

Posted: 16 Jan 2010 05:33 AM PST

I ran across the following MasterCard Debit commercial recently, and it got me thinking about what we use plastic for these days.

I saw myself standing there, using my debit card to pay for a handful of inexpensive things. And why? Because I didn’t have any cash on me. In fact, it sort of reminded me of how little cash some of us carry anymore. This is because it seems so unnecessary. A piece of plastic is much easier to carry around and deal with than a fat wad of cash.

However, I do try to use cash in some cases. It seems kind of silly to use a debit or credit card for something that costs less than $10. And I still remember the signs that some stores used to put up, insisting that they wouldn’t accept plastic for less than a certain amount. But those signs are gone, and when I find myself short on cash, I sometimes swipe the old card to pay for something that costs less than $3.

What about you? Do you use plastic for the little things?

More Ways Weight Lifting Helps You

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 11:44 PM PST

Weight lifting not only tones you up with more lean muscle mass, but it also gives out benefits like candy on Halloween.  First, while aging and dieting will cause loss of muscle mass, weight lifting is actually preventative in that it helps you retain and pack on more muscle.

Also, calorie burning is two-fold.  Although you won’t burn as many calories as you would running, weight lifting gives you a decent burn.  Furthermore, with every pound of muscle you do add on, you’ll burn an extra 6-10 calories a day just for having muscle.

Weightlifting is also a good bone strengthener and helps promote good connective tissue.  Another boost from strength training is it retards the aging process in your activities.  Despite growing older, you’ll retain more physical ability to play sports or join different activities.

“Iron Man 2” Coming to IMAX

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 10:59 PM PST

I loved the first Iron Man movie and I can't wait for Iron Man 2 to come out and now I'm even more excited – it has been announced that the sequel will be coming to IMAX theaters on May 7, 2010.  How cool is that?

It's not going to simply be adapted to fit the screen as is usually the case. Instead, it will be digitally remastered using IMAX DMR technology to give it a clearer, sharper image and better sound.

"We're thrilled to once again be working with Paramount and our long time friends at Marvel Entertainment as we help to bring their characters to life in IMAX," said IMAX president Greg Foster. "The combination of Marvel's iconic Iron Man story, Jon Favreau's brilliant vision and Paramount Pictures' talented team coupled with IMAX will make for a wild cinematic experience."

I don't usually need to see a movie in IMAX but I think I'm going to have to go for this one.  It sounds like it's going to be pretty awesome.

Lady Gaga Faints, Cancels Show

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 08:58 PM PST

Lady Gaga fainted after having a hard time breathing.  From what I've read, her symptoms were the result of her working too hard (she has been everywhere lately!).

The singer was pretty gutted about having to cancel her concert in Indiana on Thursday night.  It has been rescheduled for January 26, 2010 but Gaga tweeted about her disappointment:  “I’ve been crying for hours, I feel like I let my fans down 2nite.  An hour before the show, I was feeling dizzy and having trouble breathing.  Paramedics came to take care of me, and told me my heart-rate was irregular — a result of exhaustion and dehydration.  I am so devastated. I have performed with the flu, a cold, strep throat: I would never cancel a show just based on discomfort.”

Lady Gaga shot to fame with the release of her songs "Just Dance" and "Poker Face."

Spielberg Making 9/11 Documentary

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 08:16 PM PST

There have been a lot of movies based on the horrific events of September 11, 2001 but I'm particularly interested in a new one that is being developed by Steven Spielberg in conjunction with the Science Channel.

Rebuilding Ground Zero and will show the reconstruction of the former World Trade Center site which will include a new 1,776 foot tower, park, museum and memorial.  The six-part documentary was shot in 3D high definition and will air sometime in 2011

I can imagine that Spielberg will do a great job covering what I'm sure will be an intriguing but emotional film.
