This cocktail mixes a variety of liquors with different colors of Sambuca liqueur. The result is a colorful, tasty drink.

Sambuca is an Italian anise-flavoured liqueur that is served on the rocks in Italy with a few floating coffee beans on top. It can also be added to your coffee as a sweetener.

Getting a Job in Health Care

Posted: 08 Apr 2010 07:50 AM PDT

Despite the sluggish job market, many of the fastest growing occupations in the United States are in health related fields. However, you don’t need to be a full-fledged doctor to get in on the action. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, some other top jobs in health services include home health aides, medical assistants, physical therapists and physician assistants.

DoctorWith these jobs, you don’t need to get your doctorate degree, but you do need training and coursework. A physician assistant is a position that is both fulfilling and financially rewarding. According to Salary.com, the average annual income for a physician is nearly $87K. That’s not bad.

Physician assistants can be employed in hospitals, clinics or doctors offices. They treat patients who don’t necessarily need the expertise of an actual physician.

To become a physician assistant you need to take accredited coursework (which usually takes about 2 years) and then pass an examination to become licensed. Most applicants to physician assistant’s programs already have a college degree plus health-related work experience.

If you think you want to get into the health care field but don’t want to spend so many years in school becoming a full physician, becoming a physician assistant is a good way to go.

Taboo Interview Topics

Posted: 08 Apr 2010 07:34 AM PDT

When you are interviewing for a job, there are a number of topics you should avoid talking about at all costs. If you are forced to talk about any of these subjects, it's best to do so delicately, swiftly and confidently. That way you can give the potential employer the needed explanation without having to dwell on the subject.

Job Interview

Image: istockphoto

Bad Mouthing Your Previous Job
A lot of interviewees fall into the trap of bad mouthing their previous place of employment. Instead, what you should do is speak highly of your past employer. Talk about skills you learned while at the job and how you can use those skills going forward.

Desperation
An interviewer is more likely to pick the person who is qualified and wants the job, rather than the person who absolutely needs the job. Desperation doesn't sit well with most employers. The company will feel that a desperate employee may be just looking for any job temporarily and will leave the position as soon as another ripe opportunity comes along. Even if you truly need the job, it's best to act like you could do without it but that you would accept the opportunity if it were offered.

Getting Too Personal
You shouldn’t talk about your own personal life, relationships, religion or anything of that sort. Nor should you try to delve into the personal affairs of the interviewer. Also don’t try to be overly complimentary to the interviewer, that will rarely help you get hired. Most of the time, the person will just become uncomfortable. It's always best to keep everything professional and avoid any personal talk altogether.

The Perfect Mint Julep

Posted: 08 Apr 2010 07:27 AM PDT

The Kentucky Derby, along with all its traditions, takes place on May 1. If you are looking for the perfect Mint Julep, you have plenty of recipes to choose from. Check out this one using Maker’s Mark — one of Kentucky’s finest bourbons. It’s made from soft red winter wheat instead of ryle, making it smooth and perfect for mixing.

Mint Julep

Image: Maker's Mark

Serves 4 to 6 people

Ingredients:

  • 1L Maker's Mark
  • Lots of fresh spearmint
  • Distilled water
  • Granulated sugar
  • Powdered sugar

Method:

1. To prepare the mint extract, remove about 40 small mint leaves – wash and place in a small mixing bowl. Cover with 3 parts of Maker's Mark. Allow the leaves to soak for 15 minutes. Then gather the leaves in a clean, soap-free piece of cotton cloth and wring the mint bundle over the bowl of whisky. Dip the bundle again and repeat the process several times. Then set aside.

2. To prepare the simple syrup, mix 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water in a cooking pot. Heat to dissolve the sugar. Stir constantly so the sugar does not burn. Set aside to cool.

3. To prepare the Mint Julep mixture, pour 3 ½ cups of Maker's Mark into a large pitcher. Add 1 cup of the simple syrup to the bowl.

4. Now, begin adding the mint extract a tablespoon at a time to the julep mixture. Each batch of mint extract is different, so you must taste and smell after each tablespoon is added. You may have to leave the room a time or two to clear your nose. The tendency is to use too much mint. You are looking for a soft mint aroma and taste – generally about 3 tablespoons.

5. When you think it's right, pour the whole mixture back into the empty liter bottle and refrigerate it for at least 24 hours to "marry" the flavors.

6. To serve the Mint Julep, fill each glass (preferably a silver Mint Julep cup) half full with shaved ice. Insert a sprig of mint, and then pack in more ice to about an inch over the top of the cup. Then, insert a straw that has been cut to one inch above the top of the cup so the nose is forced close to the mint when sipping the julep.

7. When frost forms on the cup, pour the refrigerated julep mixture over the ice and add a sprinkle of powdered sugar to the top of the ice. Then serve.

Ryanair Considering Restroom Charges

Posted: 08 Apr 2010 01:40 AM PDT

Airlines are nickel-and-diming passengers for everything these days — fees for extra baggage, charges for pillows and blankets, and the list goes on and on.

Ryanair

According to Marketplace, Irish low-budget airline Ryanair is considering charging travelers one Euro or one British pound for using the restroom on flights that are one hour or less. They are currently working on developing a coin-operated door release for using the facilities. This is taking “no-frills” to a new level.

It is also being reported that Ryanair will raise its luggage charge to 20 pounds (up from 15 pounds) during the peak summer months. A couple years ago, Ryanair tried charging extra for passengers in wheelchairs — that one didn’t fly.

Video: Tiger Woods Nike Commercial with Dad

Posted: 07 Apr 2010 08:55 PM PDT

Tiger Woods has a new Nike commercial. The video of Tiger’s commercial, which features the voice of his late father, can be seen below. It is the first new commercial for Tiger since his sex scandal became public.

In the black and white commercial, Tiger stands stoically on a golf course as he stars at the camera. The voice in the background is Earl Woods, Tiger’s dad and the man most credited for Tiger becoming a golf star.

“Tiger, I am more prone to be inquisitive to promote discussion,” says Earl Woods in the commercial. “I want to find out what your thinking was. I want to find out what your feelings are — and did you learn anything?”

Nike is one of the company’s that has decided to stick with Tiger following the sex scandal. Other company’s that also stuck with him are Upper Deck and EA Sports.

What do you think of the new Tiger Woods commercial for Nike featuring Earl Woods? I don’t really like it that much. If Nike was going to tackle Tiger’s sex scandal head on, they should have been more direct. Plus, it’d be nice if it were more obvious that it is Tiger’s dad in the commercial. The Average Joe wouldn’t know that.

Jonghyun Bieber – Happy Birthday Jonghyun

Posted: 07 Apr 2010 08:55 PM PDT

Happy birthday to Jonghyun, also known as Jonghyun Bieber. I don’t know much about the kid but he’s a trending topic on Twitter so I researched to see what all the fuss is about. The now 20-year-old Jonghyun was born in Seoul, South Korea and he’s the lead vocalist for Shinee, a boy band from South Korea that specializes in R&B.

Along with Jonghyun, the group features Onew, Minho, Taemin and Key. The boy band’s main hit is “Older Girl, You’rs So Pretty”. Additionally, Jonghyun and the boy band rose to fame due to a reality show.

Jonghyun emerged from the shadows in 2005 at a casting call. Prior to joining Shinee, he sang a song with Zhang Liyin called “Wrongly Given Love” on the “I Will” album.

Jonghyun Bieber got the nickname since many of his fans consider him the Asian version of Justin Bieber. Just like Justin Bieber, Jonghyun has a unique sense of style and memorable hair.

Justin Bieber has been able to cash in from his internet celebrity. Can Jonghyun make the jump from Twitter phenom to international celebrity. We’ll have to wait and see.
