Actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi were arrested after arriving in court in Santa Barbara on Monday. The Quaids spent about four hours in custody on Monday and then were released after posting $100,000 bail each. The criminal complaint alleges they used an invalid credit card to defraud the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito of more than $10,000. They also have been charged with burglary and conspiracy, and have pleaded not guilty.

Randy Quaid is the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid. Randy is best known for his supporting roles in movies such as National Lampoon’s Vacation and Independence Day.

Ryan Howard Signs $125 Million Contract

Posted: 26 Apr 2010 08:39 PM PDT

Ryan Howard, the slugger for the Philadelphia Phillies, has established himself as an elite power hitter. He’s now going to be paid like it after signing a $125 million contract to remain with the Phillies until 2017. The five-year extension makes him the second highest paid player in baseball.

The 30-year-old first baseman has been a stud since his first full season in the big leagues. The last four seasons has seen him have at least 45 homers, at least 136 RBIs and at least 94 runs. This year, Howard is hitting .265 with three homers, 16 RBIs and 11 RBIs.

Howard is confident that he’ll remain an elite power hitter for the duration of the contract.

“I feel what I’ve been doing over the last couple of years, I feel pretty confident that down the road, I’ll be right where I want to be and still doing the same things,” said Howard.

The only player in baseball who will be making more than Howard is Alex Rodriguez. Considering Howard wasn’t set to be a free agent for two more seasons, this gigantic contract was more than fair. The Phillies, too, have to be happy to lock in their franchise player.

Dwight Howard is undoubtedly the best player on the Orlando Magic. But with Howard spending another game in foul trouble, the other players on the Magic were able to shoot down the Charlotte Bobcats by a final score of 99-90. The win allowed the Magic to sweep the Bobcats and advance to the second round of the 2010 NBA Playoffs.

The Magic were led by Vince Carter’s 21 points, while Jameer Nelson and Rashard Lewis chipped in 18 and 17 points, respectively. Howard, who was only able to play 23 minutes, had six points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots.

Although the Bobcats got swept, they put up a mean fight in each game. In this contest, Tyrus Thomas led the team in scoring with 21 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. Gerald Wallace had 17 points, five rebounds and four assists to complete his first All-Star campaign.

Orlando will move on to face the winner of the Atlanta Hawks and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Hawks and Bucks are currently tied at 2-2 with Game 5 to be played in Atlanta.
