Broncos Draft Tim Tebow, Make Big Mistake Posted: 23 Apr 2010 05:27 PM PDT Josh McDaniels, the head coach of the Denver Broncos, is regarded as one of the better young minds in the NFL. But falling in love with Tim Tebow and selecting him with the 25th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft, McDaniels made a big mistake. Tebow is a wonderful human being. He is arguably the best college football player in history. However, those two things don’t change the fact that Tebow is not going to make it in the NFL as a quarterback. It won’t matter that he’s a great guy or a team leader or anything else … Tebow will never be worth a first round pick. In college, Tebow got away with playing quarterback simply due to the fact that he was bigger and stronger than most of his opponents. His brute force made him a running threat, while his sub par arm was rarely tested. In the pros, he won’t overwhelm the opposition physically. His arm will be put to the test on each and every throw — and his arm will fail. He has a slow release, he isn’t accurate and has tons of bad habits. The best outcome for the Broncos is Tebow helps the team as a specialist. But even if the best outcome is realized, there’s still no way the team should have wasted the 25th overall pick on a specialist. And worst of all for McDaniels, his coaching future will be tied to Tim Tebow’s future. When Tebow fails, McDaniels will fail. That failure will cost him his job. Posted: 22 Apr 2010 08:53 PM PDT Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant hit just four of his first 16 shots, but he didn’t let his off-night get the best of him. When all was said and done, he finished the game with 29 points, pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds, and his team came away with a 101-96 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night. ![]() Image: Zuma Press And it was Durant’s defense in the fourth quarter against Kobe Bryant that is really noteworthy. The Thunder had thrown a variety of players at Bryant throughout the game before Durant took a crack at him in the final quarter. Bryant was held to just four points in the period on 2-for-10 shooting. “It was a matchup that caught me by surprise,” Bryant told the media after the game. “He did a good job.” Bryant finished the night with 24 points but did not score from the charity stripe. Derek Fisher and Pau Gasol each scored 17 with Gasol pulling down 15 boards. For the Thunder, Russell Westbrook tallied 27 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while James Harden scored 18. Los Angeles leads the series 2-1. Post from: EveryJoe |
