Avatar didn’t go away empty handed. Although it had to be a disappointing night overall, the movie still won awards for cinematography, visual effects and art direction. Plus, considering the movie has produced gross revenue of more than $2.5 billion, writer and director James Cameron will survive.

Other notable winners include Sandra Bullock (Best Actress), Jeff Bridges (Best Actor), Mo’Nique (Best Supporting Actress), Christoph Waltz (Best Supporting Actor), Mark Boal (Best Original Screenplay) and Geoffrey Fletcher (Best Adapted Screenplay),

Snacking Tips to Stay Healthy

Posted: 07 Mar 2010 08:24 PM PST

In theory, it is best to eat a set number of meals per day at set times. However, you are human — snacking during the day will happen. How do you snack while doing so in a healthy manner? Here are some tips:

Image: istockphoto

Drink Water First
Before you begin snacking, drink a tall glass of water. Not only will the water help keep you hydrated, it will also fill you up faster. That allows you to keep your snacking to a minimum.

Select Healthy Snacks
Instead of reaching for that salty bag of chips or that fruity candy filled with sugar, pick healthy snacks such as fresh fruit, yogurt, nuts or rice cakes. Keep some stashed in your desk at work — avoid the vending machines.

Set a Limit
Don’t fall victim to accidental over-eating. When you begin snacking, separate out the amount you intend to consume. This also makes it much easier to count calories.

Eat Slowly
Studies have shown that the slower you eat, the less you will end up eating. It takes a while for your body to realize it doesn’t need any more food. By slowing down, you give your body time to alert you.
