Thomas Jones Runs to the Chiefs

Posted: 09 Mar 2010 08:30 PM PST

Thomas Jones had a very good season last year with the New York Jets. However, after not being able to agree on a contract, the powerful running back decided to test the open market. On Tuesday, he landed a two-year, $5 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs.

In Kansas City, Jones will pair with Jamaal Charles to give the Chiefs a lot of potential on the ground. Charles was very good to end the season and Jones will help keep him fresh. A 50/50 split on carries is likely.

The Chiefs were focused on adding a veteran running back during the offseason. In addition to Jones, the team reportedly was also interested in a number of other RBs including Willie Parker and Justin Fargas.

The 31-year-old is coming off of the best season of his career. Playing in all 16 games, Jones rushed for a career-high 1,402 yards and a career-high 14 touchdowns. Charles ran for 1,2120 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging a staggering 5.9 yards per carry.

BofA Nixes Debit Card Overdraft Fees

Posted: 09 Mar 2010 08:25 PM PST

Bank of America has decided that it will stop charging overdraft fees on debit card purchases as of this summer, a decision that will cut off millions of dollars worth of income for the financial giant. This change follows the September 2009 limit to the number and amount of overdraft charges that could be incurred in a single day.

This move means that customers will be declined if they attempt to use their debit card when they have insufficient funds, rather than facing a hefty overdraft fee.

The change may have come after months of political debate over these types of fees, with many lawmakers urging banks to place limits on overdraft charges. Bank of America, however, states that the policy change is the result of extensive customer research that discovered that customers would rather just be declined than be allowed to spend money that they do not have in their account.

After Chris Bosh hit a three-pointer to tie the game with 9.5 seconds remaining, Kobe authored his latest volume of late-game heroics. For the game, he finished with 32 points, six rebounds and six assists. Andrew Bynum chipped in with 22 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots.

Bosh led the way for the Raptors with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Toronto got close to winning a big game on the road but couldn’t quite hold on. The loss drops the Raptors to sixth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 32-30.

Even though the Lakers have struggled as of late, their 47-18 record gives them a three-game lead over the Dallas Mavericks in the West. The defending NBA champions will play next on Friday in Phoenix against the Suns.

Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg Makes Debut

Posted: 09 Mar 2010 08:20 PM PST

Stephen Strasburg might be the most touted pitching prospect of this generation. The future of the Washington Nationals could very well rest with his pitching arm. On Tuesday, the world got the first big league look at Strasburg as he made his debut in an exhibition game against the Detroit Tigers.

Although he wasn’t perfect, Strasburg didn’t disappoint. He pitched two scoreless innings while showing off his impressive stuff. After the game, the pitching phenom indicated that he was happy to get his debut over with.

Said Strasburg: “There was a lot of adrenaline flowing today. It’s just great to get my feet wet because I know what to expect next time.”

Jim Leyland, the manager of the Tigers, was impressed by what he saw.

“He’s a very gifted young man,” he said, “no question about that.”

Strasburg was the first overall pick of the 2009 MLB Draft after going 13-1 with a 1.35 ERA at San Diego State. He also struck out 195 batters in 109 innings.

Though he’s likely to begin the season in the minors, there’s no doubt that Nationals fans will want him pitching for their team ASAP.

GOG.com: Heaven for the Nostalgic Gamer

Posted: 09 Mar 2010 08:16 PM PST

Talk to any gamer that has been around since the days of Atari and floppy discs and you'll detect plenty of nostalgia for the good old days of gaming. "We didn't need flashy graphics to enjoy our videogames," the grumpy gamer will tell you, "we just booted up our 'ol 386 and used our imagination!" If you're one of these gamers, there's no need to feel alone anymore – GOG.com offers a great catalogue of games and a wonderful community of gamers that value substance over style.

Gog.com

Gog.com

As the name suggests, GOG is dedicated to providing Good Old Games to gamers that feel like gameplay has been washed away by the flood of 5-hour games with gorgeous graphics but no soul. Like an oasis in the desert of the modern gaming world, GOG.com is extremely easy to use, very budget-friendly, and loaded with games that you can sink your teeth into.

GOG has plenty of advantages over your average videogame retailer. Perhaps the most important aspect of GOG is that every game, no matter how old, is adapted to work with XP and Vista without any extra hassle. Ask any nostalgic gamer who has spent hours fiddling with various programs to make their favorite DOS game work if this is important and you'll hear a resounding "YES!"

Another great advantage of GOG is that every game is either $5.99 or $9.99, which usually amounts to a huge steal for you. For example, GOG offers the first six entries in the legendary Might & Magic series at an outrageous $9.99 – considering that each of these games offers dozens of hours of gameplay, you're looking at a lot of bang for your buck.

Buying games from GOG is a no-brainer, as you simply select your desired payment method and receive a download link immediately. Once you buy from GOG, the game is yours, with no extra copy protection attached. Every game comes with a variety of extras, from scanned copies of the manual to other neat peripherals that would have come with the original packaged game.

You're almost guaranteed to find some old favorites while browsing through GOG's ever-growing catalogue of classics, and if you don't find a game you're looking for, you can always suggest to GOG that they pick it up. There is so much retro gaming fun to be had at GOG.com — don't miss out!
