Jake Delhomme the Answer in Cleveland?

Posted: 13 Mar 2010 07:55 PM PST

The Cleveland Browns desperately need a quarterback to lead the team out of dumps. On Saturday, the Browns may have signed their 2010 starter at quarterback when they inked Jake Delhomme to a deal. The former Carolina Panthers QB signed a two-year deal that will pay him a reported $7 million in 2010.

While Delhomme led the Panthers to the Super Bowl and is still just 35 years old, it’s an odd signing for the Browns. They already have Brady Quinn on the roster and recently traded for Seneca Wallace. Add in the fact that Delhomme was really bad last year and the quarterback position in Cleveland still has more questions than answers.

Last season, Delhomme threw for 2,015 yards and connected on eight touchdowns while getting picked off 18 times. His 59.4 quarterback rating was easily the worst of his career.

Some reports have the Browns looking to trade away Quinn. If that happens, Delhomme becomes the starter and Wallace will back him up and also play some wide receiver.

Knicks Shock Mavs, Snap Winning Streak

Posted: 13 Mar 2010 07:55 PM PST

Entering Saturday night’s game against the New York Knicks, the Dallas Mavericks had a 13-game winning streak. Considering that the Knicks hadn’t won in Dallas in more than a decade and how bad the New York has been this season, this contest appeared to be over before it had begun.

Think again.

The Knicks not only won, they dominated the Mavericks. They outscored Dallas in every quarter to win by a final score of 128-94. Bill Walker had a career-high 23 points off the bench, hitting 9-of-12 field goal attempts and 5-of-8 three-pointers. Wilson Chandler had 22 points, six rebounds and four assists, while David Lee had 15 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists.

Virtually everyone on the Mavericks struggled. Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion and Caron Butler combined to hit only 13-of-34 shots from the field in a shocking end to a winning streak that gave the Mavs one of the best records in the NBA.

Even with the win, the Knicks don’t have a chance to make the playoffs. The focus in New York remains on the summer of 2010 when they have a chance to add superstars such as LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in free agency.

Apple iPad Already a Big Hit

Posted: 13 Mar 2010 08:55 PM PST

If you can’t wait to get your hands on the new iPad, you aren’t the only one. Approximately 120,000 iPads were sold on the first day pre-orders could be placed, according to numbers calculated by the AAPL Sanity board on InvestorVillage.com.

Apple is the company behind the iPad, which is said to be something like a hybrid of an iPhone and a netbook computer. The stylish gadget is lightweight and thin however is relatively powerful and is sure to be another big hit for Apple.

The iPad will officially go on sale April 3rd. If you want the model that allows both Wi-Fi and 3G, you’ll have to wait until the end of April. For those who placed a pre-order on the first day, more people opted for the Wi-Fi only model. The iPad will also be available with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

While the iPad has generally gotten positive reviews, some critics point out flaws. For one, only one app can be run at a time. Critics have also wondered aloud why Apple decided not to include a built-in camera with the gadget.

Movie Preview: The Bounty Hunter

Posted: 13 Mar 2010 08:55 PM PST

On March 19th, “The Bounty Hunter” will be hitting theatres in the United States. No, this movie isn’t featuring Dog Chapman and his family — it’s a flick starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler.

Milo (Butler), a bounty hunter down on his luck, is hired to pick up his ex-wife (Aniston) after she jumped bail. After gladly taking on the challenge, Milo figures out that the job isn’t as cut and dry as it first appeared.

While it could be corny, it looks like it could actually be a fun film to check out. The trailer has a few funny moments — plus Aniston and Butler seem to have good chemistry.

“The Bounty Hunter” is directed by Andy Tennant, whose most recent work includes Fool’s Gold, Hitch and Sweet Home Alabama. The movie was filmed in 2009 and the cast also include Christine Baranski, Jason Sudeikis and Jeff Garlin.

“I’ve been playing with a smile on my face since I was 3,” Howard says. “People keep saying it looks like I’m having too much fun. And I say, 'Yes, I am.’ And it should be that way. I guess that can make me a little hard to understand.”

Included also are some explanations of the exercise he does. His trainer, Bryan Meyer, takes common moves and tweaks them a bit to increase their difficulty. Check out some of Howard’s workout.

China Warns Google to Follow Censorship Law

Posted: 13 Mar 2010 08:25 PM PST

China has raised the stakes in its showdown with Google over censorship, a Chinese minister warning the Internet search giant that it "will have to bear the consequences" if it discontinues its search filtering in China. This statement shows that tensions are increasing in the strange battle between China and Google, one that pits the free access of information versus government censorship.

Google first angered the Chinese government on January 12th when it decided that it would stop following requirements to filter its search results on google.cn, the Chinese equivalent to google.com, and leave the world's largest market of Internet users. Google stated that such action would be taken due to the government's high level of free speech restriction, as well as because of many cyber attacks of Chinese origin.

The Chinese government met Google's bold move with an offer of negotiation, and since then, the two have been in talks to see if a compromise can be made. However, the latest statement made by a Chinese official shows that negotiations will be anything but simple.

Chick of the Day: Alyssa Milano

Posted: 13 Mar 2010 07:14 PM PST

At 37 years old, Alyssa Milano is definitely still hot. You probably first saw Alyssa in her role as Samantha Micelli in the sitcom Who’s the Boss, where we saw her grow up right in front of our eyes from 1984-92. After a year on Melrose Place (1997), she found herself on the popular show Charmed for eight years. Alyssa has also appeared in a number of films.

The cute brunette is a huge fan of the Dodgers and writes a baseball blog on the Major League Baseball site. (What’s hotter than a hot chick who knows about sports?!) She is also quite the philanthropist. She is Founding Ambassador for the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases, as well as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for the U.S.
